BARCHIVE / Service information
Terms of Service
Effective 2026-10-12 · Clarifications 2026-10-29
Cancelling stops the next automatic payment; you can keep using your subscription until the paid period ends. Manage Android subscriptions through Google Play and web subscriptions through Paddle. Account deletion and refunds are separate procedures, explained below.
These Terms govern your use of BARCHIVE (the “Service”), a plant record application operated by lumplants (the “Operator”), and set out the rights and obligations of both parties.
1. Definitions
“Service” means the BARCHIVE mobile app and barchive.app web app for recording, keeping and sharing plant photos, capture dates and notes.
“User” means a person who agrees to these Terms and uses the Service.
“Content” means photos, scientific names, cultivar names, nicknames, notes and any other material a User adds to the Service.
“Free plan” stores records only on the current device; “BARCHIVE PRO plan” is the paid plan that adds cloud sync.
2. Effect and amendment of these Terms
These Terms take effect once posted inside the Service.
The Operator may amend these Terms within the limits of applicable law. Changes that are not adverse will be announced at least 7 days in advance; material or adverse changes will be announced at least 30 days in advance, together with their effective date, substance and reason.
If you do not agree to an amendment, you may cancel your subscription and stop using the Service or delete your account before it takes effect. Separate consent will be obtained where required by law.
3. Accounts
Using the Service requires signing in with Google or registering with an email address and password.
You must provide accurate information and must not use another person's account credentials.
You are responsible for keeping your account and password secure and must notify the Operator immediately of any suspected unauthorised access.
You may delete your account and data at any time from the Settings screen.
Account deletion removes your sign-in account, plants, growth records, notes, cloud photos, trash and the account’s copies on the current device. Copies exported or kept on other devices must be removed separately. Deleting an account is not a refund request.
Before deletion, we confirm that future Google Play renewals have stopped and that Paddle web subscriptions have been cancelled immediately. Immediate Paddle cancellation ends access for the remaining paid period too. If cancellation cannot be confirmed, we preserve your data and ask you to retry. Past payments are not automatically refunded; you may request a refund separately under the purchase channel’s policy and your statutory rights.
The Service is intended for people aged 14 and over. We do not offer a parental-consent registration process for children under 14. If we learn that data from a child under 14 has been collected, we verify the situation and take appropriate steps, including deletion. Contact [email protected] with concerns.
4. Plans and scope of the Service
Free plan: unlimited plants and up to 100 photos in total. Photos and records are stored only on the device you are using, with ZIP backup and restore available.
BARCHIVE PRO plan: cloud sync, expanded storage, access across devices and a trash feature. ZIP backup and restore are not provided on BARCHIVE PRO.
When a limit is reached you can still view, edit and delete existing records; only new entries are blocked.
Cloud photo storage is limited to 5GB (5,000,000,000 bytes) per account and is not unlimited. Photos are compressed or converted on your device before upload; usage is based on the size of stored files. At the limit, new photo uploads are restricted; existing records can still be viewed or deleted. Important changes to service conditions follow the notice procedure in these Terms.
Some image exports in the free Android app may require watching an ad. PRO users can use them without these ads. An unavailable ad or closing it before earning the reward does not unlock export; your edits are kept. This condition does not apply to Snapshot. The web app currently does not use this advertising feature.
5. Ending BARCHIVE PRO and how data is handled
When BARCHIVE PRO ends and the account returns to Free, photos and records stored on your device remain. Photo viewing uses device copies and cache first. During the retention period, use “Download cloud backup” in MY to save photos and records missing from this device.
Cloud copies are kept for download and backup for 30 days after normal subscription expiry, or 7 days after a refund with revocation, then deleted. New cloud uploads and sync stop when the account becomes Free. Device photos and records remain independently of this period.
If needed, download your cloud backup before the deadline, confirm completion and keep a separate ZIP backup. Cloud copies deleted after the retention period cannot be recovered.
If you subscribe to BARCHIVE PRO again, the records on your device are re-uploaded to the cloud.
6. Android Google Play billing and refunds
New Google Play subscriptions are for 1 month or 1 year. The price, currency and payment method are displayed by Google Play immediately before purchase. The annual total is charged in one payment. The subscription renews automatically for the selected period until cancelled.
BARCHIVE PRO purchased on Android uses Google Play billing, receipts and tax processing.
Payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by the Google Play Terms of Service (https://play.google.com/intl/ko/about/play-terms/).
You may cancel at any time in the Google Play Store under Payments & subscriptions, effective from the next billing cycle; BARCHIVE PRO features remain available for the remainder of the paid period.
Cancelling a subscription does not refund an order already paid. Refunds are governed by the separate Refund Policy, Google Play policy and applicable law; the Operator does not offer a separate unconditional money-back guarantee.
BARCHIVE PRO features and cloud capacity are supplied as soon as payment is confirmed. You can try the Service's core functions on the Free plan before purchasing.
Once supply of a digital service has begun, a change-of-mind refund may be restricted to the extent permitted by law. Rights concerning unauthorised, duplicate or minor purchases, non-conforming supply, material service failure and other mandatory consumer rights are not excluded.
If Google Play or the Operator confirms a refund with revocation, or the payment is charged back or voided, access from that purchase ends. Other valid PRO entitlements remain. If no other valid entitlement remains and the account becomes FREE, new cloud uploads and sync stop immediately. Cloud copies are kept for backup for 7 days, then deleted. Photos and records stored on your device remain. See the Refund Policy for details.
Starting to use the Service does not automatically waive withdrawal rights. Restrictions apply only where the legal requirements for restricting withdrawal are met, and only to that extent. Otherwise, you may exercise the rights provided by applicable law.
Web billing, cancellation and refunds (Paddle)
South Korean web prices are fixed at KRW 9,900 every three months or KRW 33,000 per year, including VAT. Other locations pay in a supported local currency, or USD where their local currency is unavailable. Country prices use Paddle price overrides or currency conversion. The full period is billed at once and renews at the same interval until cancelled. No free trial is offered. Check currency, taxes, final amount and renewal terms in Paddle Checkout before paying. Payment methods vary by country, currency and device.
Paddle is the authorised seller (Merchant of Record). Its Buyer Terms (https://www.paddle.com/legal/buyer-terms) and Refund Policy (https://www.paddle.com/legal/refund-policy) govern web purchases. BARCHIVE provides plant records and cloud services.
A verified first payment or renewal starts or extends PRO for its paid period. If confirmation is delayed, check again rather than paying again. Failed or unpaid renewal does not extend access.
Cancellation stops the next renewal; paid access continues to its end date. Cancellation alone does not refund it. Use Manage subscription and payments in the web app or the Paddle portal linked in your receipt. Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription. Account deletion is a separate data-deletion process and does not request a refund.
PRO is provided as soon as payment is verified. This notice is not consent to waive withdrawal rights. Starting to use the service does not by itself exclude Paddle policy or mandatory consumer rights.
7. Rights in your Content
You retain all rights in the Content you upload.
The Operator processes Content only as needed to provide the Service (storage, sync, display, backup and generating share images) and never for advertising or resale.
Permission to process Content for the Service ends when you delete that Content or your account. Necessary records subject to legal retention are kept separately, for the purposes and periods stated in the Privacy Policy.
8. Prohibited conduct
Uploading material that infringes the rights of others, including copyright and portrait rights.
Uploading or distributing material that is unlawful or contrary to public order and morals.
Interfering with normal operation of the Service, including automated bulk requests, exploiting vulnerabilities and reverse engineering.
Using another person's account without permission or reselling the Service.
If conduct prohibited by section 8 is confirmed, we may restrict the related use only as necessary to protect the Service. We notify you beforehand of the reason, scope, duration and appeal route; urgent security action may be taken first with notice without undue delay. Send appeals to [email protected]; we review the facts and explain the outcome. A valid refund request or exercise of statutory rights alone is not grounds for restriction.
9. Changes to and suspension of the Service
The Operator may improve or change the Service and will announce significant changes in advance.
The Service may be temporarily suspended for maintenance, equipment failure, force majeure or other unavoidable reasons.
If the Service is discontinued, the Operator will give at least 30 days' notice and allow time for Users to export their data.
10. Limitation of liability
Where the Operator is not at fault, it is not liable, to the extent permitted by law, for loss of free local records caused by device damage or loss, uninstalling the app, or clearing device or browser data.
The Operator is not liable for damage caused by force majeure, by the User's own fault, or by failures of third-party services outside the Operator's control.
These limits do not exclude the Operator’s liability for intentional or negligent conduct, or any rights that applicable mandatory law gives you.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea.
The Operator and the User will seek to resolve any dispute in good faith; failing that, the dispute may be brought before the competent court under the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
The choice of Korean law does not exclude mandatory consumer or data-protection rights, or mandatory jurisdiction rules, in your country of residence.
